We’re a charity!

Karen, Rafe, Angi and Seth started Wrong Turn Ranch in 2014. Over the years, our backyard passion project grew and we saw positive changes in the people and animals who experienced healing through our ranch. We decided to make the leap to become a nonprofit in 2024.

WTR is bigger than all of us; the ranch serves our community which is why we have been given tax-exempt status from the IRS. Our 501(c)(3) status allows us to take in tax-deductible donations and apply for grants so we can do what we do best:

Wrong Turn Ranch’s mission is to rescue and rehabilitate at-risk or discarded animals, to connect those animals with people, and to promote healing for animals and people through the horse/human relationship.

No matter the reason for finding their way to Wrong Turn Ranch, animals and humans share a need for respite and healing.

We see opportunities to make a difference in Los Angeles and Ventura counties by continuing to do the critical work of rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals while offering unique learning experiences for people and organizations in need.

Since the pandemic, we all need greater connection: to ourselves, to our families, friends and colleagues, to nature, and to a sense of wonder.

The healing opportunities provided through Animal-Assisted Experiential Learning serve individuals experiencing mental health issues, those who have experienced trauma and/or are disengaged with life, and nonprofit professionals experiencing burnout or at risk of burnout.

In the short and long term, our goal is to offer no-cost programs to nonprofit organizations, to continue nurturing the animals who have found sanctuary at WTR, and to invest in improvements to ranch facilities and infrastructure.

Now that we have made this transition, we need your support!

If Wrong Turn Ranch has had a positive impact on you, we ask that you donate today. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible, and funds will go directly to changing the lives of people and animals.

With gratitude,

Karen, Rafe, Angi and Seth & all the animals at Wrong Turn Ranch
